DeviantArt and a Work in Progress

I don’t know how many people who come on this blog also know about DeviantArt but it’s a web community especially for artists of all types. People from all over the world, novice to professional, can post their work for everyone to see. I like it and not. The site is so huge that its easy to get lost in the shuffle. The only way to be sure your stuff is seen is to join groups and submit your stuff to the groups. I’m only a member of 21 groups, which really isn’t a whole lot considering others.

My most popular drawing is Benedict Cumberbatch. It helps that he’s super big stuff internationally.

But to the point of why I bring the site up. There are some amazing, amazing artwork on there. I recently found this.

That’s a drawing!!!!!! I can not, for the life of me, wrap my head around it.

This an extreme example, but stuff like this both discourages and inspires. It proves that I have a really long way to go to being a better artist.

Luckily, most of the better artists on this site are willing to provide their tips. I came across a tutorial for drawing a detailed portrait, so I’m following it to see what kind of result I’ll get.

This is Dakota Fanning, and I know it’s a little creepy at this stage. I’ve got a while to go. I’m only about 3 1/2 hours in.
